The Appalachian Spiritual Life Association (ASLA) promotes a spiritual climate in which all members of the University community - students, faculty, and staff - have the freedom and opportunity to practice their respective faiths, to worship by their individual concerns, to inquire about religious problems and interests, and to work together on common concerns.
ASLA exists to provide a safe and nurturing environment for students' spiritual growth and development on the AppState Campus, foster relationships among spiritual life leaders, and serve as a resource to the University.

Each August, “Welcome to App” includes the Appalachian Spiritual Life Fair, where hundreds of Appalachian students come to the Union to seek out places and spaces in our community to grow in their faith and to continue or begin their spiritual journey. This event is open to all spiritually based organizations in our community, Christian or not.
